Nurses Training

In 1955, the Voyageurs Militaire, recognizing the shortage of Registered Nurses, adopted a program to provide financial assistance, in the form of scholarships, to those individuals who enrolled for this training. With 2,131 students receiving over $1,100,000 in scholarships this past year, the FORTY & EIGHT has granted in excess of $20,000,000 and graduated over 23,000 Registered Nurses since the inception of this program.

NO, The Nursing Shortage is NOT Getting Better!

It has been calculated that by 2010, Michigan will have a nursing shortage of over 7,000 RNs, and by 2015 this shortage will be around 18,000- just in Michigan!

Is it Even Possible for Hospitals to Exist without Registered Nurses?...not a pleasant thought if you anticipate needing medical care in the future. (Don’t think about the possibility of an extended stay without nurses- it’s too alarming!)

In Lenawee County, the Forty & Eight Voiture Locale 997 grants scholarships to future nurses each year, typically between 6 and 8 depending on available funding.  Over the last 12 years we have helped more than 20 students graduate.  A Nurse candidate must stay in the program and is awarded $800.00 per year to assist payment of their education costs.  We now have more applicants than we have funds to help them.

With the current economy, we simply Do Not Have Adequate Funding and are looking to You for Help!

With your aid we can not only expand our program but ensure that those Nurses to whom we have committed support will continue to be funded.  We offer a number of ways for you or your business to become involved in this critical program.
